GRACE AMBASSADORS

Only One Book to Read

This originally appeared as an email delivered on
Saturday, May 28th, 2011.

God wrote a book, and wants us to read it.

I like to read books, but others don’t. They may think,
“Couldn’t God have made a feature length movie and
said, “watch this to show yourself approved unto God”?

After all, a picture is worth a thousand words. Reading
a book may be difficult for people who want to take action
instead of cuddling up to a pile of bound paper and ink.

So, I’d like to make a proposition to you non-book
readers: make the Bible the one book you read in your life.

Even non-book readers read at least 2-3 books in their life.

Although I would love it if we could all read a thousand
books, I officially relieve you from needing to read the
endless supply of commentaries, doctrinal-helps, and
pop Christian literature.

Just read the Bible. I am so confident that God’s word
will work towards your godly edification and eternal profit
that I won’t even bug you to read the more than 400
articles on this website!

If you don’t read many books, then read only one.
Know it well. You will have a great advantage to those
who read hundreds of books and not the Bible.

Books give you understanding. God’s book gives
you the understanding that matters.

For His glory,

Justin Curtis Johnson
