Email Tips: Have Ears to Hear

This "tip" was originally delivered on Saturday, March 13th, 2021 .

What does the Bible mean by “he that hath ears to hear, let him hear”?

Having ears to hear concerns recognizing the words of God when you hear them. (These days we read them.)

Have you ever wondered how to make connections in the Bible, interpret its prophecy, or discern truth from error? It begins by opening your ears to hear.

Paul says in Romans 10:17 that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Believe the Bible as it is in truth, the words of God. With faith your ears are open.

Ears that hear also requires familiarity. A familiar sound is noticeable. If God has spoken, you should be familiar with it so that when he speaks again you recognize it. Read the Bible deeply, believing it.

You will find the same words repeated in the New Testament that were spoken in the Old Testament. You will find the same Lord of Isaiah in Paul. You will find the same God throughout.

Without faith you won’t be looking to understand. Without familiarity you won’t recognize His words when you hear them.

For His glory,

Justin “heard it before” Johnson
