Solomon said, “God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” (Ecc 12:14)
Jesus said, “That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.” (Matt 12:36)
Paul said, “God shall judge the secrets of men” (Rom 2:16), and “Every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” (Rom 14:12)
The reality of facing the judgment of God one day can be a terrifying thought. “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” (Hebrews 10:31)
Yet, we are also told to look forward with hope to that day as one of salvation, glory, reward and rejoicing.
“Looking for the blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ.” – Titus 2:13
What changes fear and terror into hope and anticipation? What changes feelings of despair into excitement for the judgment of God?
The answer is found in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Salvation is not a “skip the judgment” ticket where we bypass our appearance before the Lord and go straight to our hidden corner of heaven.
God’s grace through faith changes the function of this judgment for the believer from being one of destruction for sin to one of deliverance from sin.
On that day the fear, despair, and terror that would otherwise accompany the righteous judgment of our sin is transformed to a supply of grace, mercy, redemption, and reward. This is only possible through the magnificent work and grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Welcome to seminar weekend! You are welcome to come out anytime this weekend to learn more about the Judgment of God and enjoy fellowship and food with others in the Body, as we learn on Sunday to look forward to the Judgment of God.
