Soldiers train extensively with fatal weapons and fighting
maneuvers that hopefully they will never have to use. But in the
event that they are in combat they need to be learned in their skill.
It is the same with the Christian soldier. You are constantly
equipping yourself to fight the doctrinal battle, but may not use the
ammunition until you get in the fight.
It is like last Sunday when we talked about speaking in tongues
and I felt confident that everyone who listened had no intention
to actually speak in tongues.
Yet it was needful to equip these soldiers. Now when they
are placed in a position with a confused soul caught up
in Pentecostal tongue-talking they will be able to skillfully
and with experience use their weapon to defend themselves
and rescue the soul unto understanding.
