Be careful not to confuse truth with tradition.
Truth can be supported with good tradition (2 Thess 2:15),
but tradition without truth is like a hollow tree.
Knock on your traditions to see if they ring true.
Traditions like the deity of Christ, salvation by grace,
and deliverance from the law are pillars of truth that
should be defended with continuing tradition.
Just because there is tradition does not mean the
whole tree comes down, but if the rituals veil the
truth instead of stabilize it then it’s time to prune.
Much of Christian tradition today is dead wood.
Traditions should be questioned, truths should be
defended. Chop carefully.
For his glory,
Justin Johnson
