GRACE AMBASSADORS

Email Tips: Use Proper Terminology

This "tip" was originally delivered on Saturday, February 13th, 2021 .

If we were to talk about your age, we would speak of dates and times.

If we were to talk about your generation, we would speak of a group of people.

If we were to talk about a dispensation, we would speak of revelations and responsibilities.

Paul speaks about the dispensation of the grace of God given to him. That is revelation and responsibility. The dispensation of grace was not given to Peter.

You can’t be given an age or generation; you are born into them.

It is not uncommon to hear people speak of a “church age” or the “age of grace”. C.I. Scofield even defined dispensation wrongly as “a period of time…”.

This has caused untold confusion in discerning the acts of the apostles who lived at the same time but had different responsibilities.

A dispensation is not an age or a generation. So, don’t speak like it is. This will help your Bible understanding greatly.

For truth,

Justin “generation Y” Johnson
