What evidence is there that Adam was a real person and not merely representative of human evolution or mytho-history? Let’s observe scripture.
Jesus said, “from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.” (Mark 10:6)
Jesus was the latest in a genealogical record that ends with “the son of Seth, which was the son of Adam, which was the son of God.” (Luke 3:38)
Jesus was not the only one to have their place in history calculated from Adam’s life, others include Enoch, Noah, and Abram (Jude 14, Genesis 5, 10).
Death reigned from Adam to Moses, but there was no death before him according to Romans 5:14. By that one man sin entered (Romans 5:12).
Adam is described as “the first man” in 1 Corinthians 15:45 and as being “first formed” by God in 1 Timothy 2:13.
Genesis is not the only place that speaks of Adam in the Bible. The Bible record outside of Genesis is also clear that Adam was the first real man in history. Before him was no other homo; he was made directly by God.
His existence is scorned as a scientific impossibility by some, but then, so is the resurrection of the second Adam.
