Problems with Authority

Salvation is ultimately a problem with authority.

All will face death and the ultimate authority to be judged for sin.

This Judge of all the earth has in His good purpose made a provision for the salvation of mankind if we would only trust in His finished work.

God wrote about the problem and the solution in the Bible, which is the final authority in all things.

People don’t believe God is the final authority. They don’t believe he can judge them righteously. They don’t believe Christ’s work has any relationship to them, and they don’t believe the book God wrote is authoritative.

They deny the only final authority that exists, replacing him with themselves, popular opinion, society, or science.

Churches are the largest deniers of God’s authority, trusting tradition, councils, and scholars over God’s words in the Bible.

Last month we finished a 7 week study on authority dealing with these problems.

1. Problems with Authority
2. Is Tradition Our Authority
3. Apostolic Authority
4. Councils, Creeds, and Catechisms
5. Academic Authority
6. The Final Authority
7. The Perfect Bible

Trusting God’s authority in the Bible is far wiser than depending on religious men.

For His glory,

Justin Curtis Johnson
