Email Tips: Praise is not Personal

This "tip" was originally delivered on Saturday, December 29th, 2012 .

“Thanks for your website!”

“Thank you for making these lessons available.”

“Thank you so much…”

“Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

These are just a few of the many grateful messages I have received the past few weeks as more people benefit from the Bible rightly divided.

It is very encouraging to receive these responses knowing that God’s word works in people. I am thankful for such members of the body of Christ.

People often feel great relief when they are delivered from religious bondage, an unclear gospel, the struggle of the law, or the guilt of their sin.

Perhaps you have had the privilege of presenting the gospel, or the Bible rightly divided and have seen the joy that comes with understanding.

However, just as we do not take the jeers to heart, we must be careful not to take the cheers personally either.

It is the Lord Jesus Christ that has accomplished all of the things for which we are eternally thankful. We are only the messengers.

Christ did it all, and he is the one who saves. He is the one who gives God glory, and we are merely privileged to be the bearers of good news.

“For to me to live is Christ..” – Phil 1:21

You will be mocked, and you will be praised. Don’t sweat the stone throwers, and don’t count your compliments, they are all Christ’s.

He deserves all the praise.
