Last week we finished a 15 part series concerning important Bible doctrines titled God’s Words Given to Us.
When studying how the Scriptures were given to us, it is common for scholars to close the book, look into history, and speculate about the process men used. This often raises doubts and questions about the book.
What we did was open the book, look into its words, and believe the process God used. This way is more profitable and strengthens your faith in God (2 Tim 3:16).
God wants us to trust him like some people trust “The Science,” expert opinion, and the letters D, R, and P, H, D. That is to say, implicitly.
The nature, origin, authority, and transmission of the Bible are doctrines taught within it. Light is shed on these subjects when we believe what is written (Psalm 119:130).
If the words were merely written by men, authorized by men, and preserved by men, then its contents must be unresolved and uncertain.
But if the words were inspired by God, purposed by God, ordained by God, and preserved according to God’s will, then we can stand perfect and complete, resolved that what we read are God’s words given to us.
“…when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.” 1 Thessalonians 2:13
