The seeds for every major doctrine in the Bible are planted in Genesis.
Without Genesis, the God of Israel is just another tribal deity created by an ancient civilization.
Without the account of the Fall in Genesis, there would be no answer to “why is there evil in the world?”
Without the knowledge of sin, there is no need for a Saviour.
Without the Genesis flood, there is no evidence of God’s power to judge the whole world.
Without the promises made to the fathers, Israel would have no hope of a future kingdom on the earth.
Without the promises made to the fathers, there would be no hope outside of Israel’s laws for salvation.
Without Genesis we may be tempted to worship the sun, moon, or stars as the greatest powers in the universe.
Instead we worship the God of the Bible as first introduced in Genesis, and who was manifest in the flesh in Jesus Christ.
“For by [Christ] were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him” – Col 1:16
If Genesis is a myth, then so is the Lord Jesus Christ.
