“For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever.” – Romans 11:36
Based on this verse service to the Lord is reasonable. All things are of him and to him.
Service to the Lord dries up when people think that not all things are of him, through him, and to him.
While it may easily be said that spiritual things belong to the Lord, it is forgotten that our bodies are his as well.
It is easy to be spiritual and “give our lives to Jesus” during worship “services”, but we figure God doesn’t want our bodies, or any earthly thing in this dispensation.
But our bodies are God’s earthly things in this dispensation. We are his members on the earth.
“Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ?” – 1 Cor 6:15
This is why Paul calls upon believers to glorify God in their bodies, and that part of God’s will is for the sanctification of our bodies from sin (1 Thess 4:3-4).
This is not legalism, it is our reasonable service (2 Cor 5:14-15).
For His glory,
