A World Without Fathers

The Bible says fathers are responsible to produce children that walk worthy of God (1 Thess 2:11-12).

Social researchers have repeatedly found that fatherless children are more likely to …

  • Die in infancy
  • Live in poverty
  • Suicide
  • Suffer obesity
  • Drop out of school
  • Abuse drugs and alcohol
  • Face child abuse and neglect
  • Struggle with homosexuality
  • Become pregnant as a teenager
  • Commit rape or have an abortion
  • Leave the church and refuse spiritual traditions
  • Be involved in gangs, shootings, and homicide
  • Commit crimes and go to prison

The most impactful solution to the above social problems is not at the statehouse, it is at home. Fathers can change the world by changing the home.

Fathers who live in the home become more active in their children’s lives than those who do not live at home.

The U.S has the highest rate of fatherless children in the world: a statistic that has tripled in the same time frame as the rise of the above social problems in the past 50 years.

If fatherlessness is a major problem, then that would mean God was right all along when he gave to fathers the responsibility to raise children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Eph 6:4).

Without fathers the world would be a far worse place.

Thank God for fathers.
