The distinction between Israel and the church has been called the essence of dispensationalism.
Charles Ryrie said it is the most basic theological test of whether someone is dispensational.
Cyrus Scofield said, “In [Paul’s] writings alone we find the doctrine, position, walk, and destiny of the church.”
It is right, then, to say that when Paul’s message of the mystery of Christ is mixed with Christ’s ministry to Israel or the Hebrew epistles we cease being dispensational.
