Learning how to abound and learning how to suffer need is the same lesson: learning to be content.
Contentment does not depend on your circumstance or material things. It is a result of being grateful, which so happens to be the will of God for you:
“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” – 1 Thess 5:18
There are a lot of thing for which we cannot give thanks, but in all circumstances there is a reason to be thankful (1 Thess 1:29). If you are doing this with the right heart you will be content.
The Devil was not content and was lifted up in pride. The angels were not content and left their first estate. Humanity was not content and did not give thanks to God(Rom 1:21).
Contentment keeps you satisfied where you are. Godliness motivates you to do what is right. With both you have a lot to gain(1 Tim 6:6).
