When you’ve been in the dark for a long time it takes time to adjust to the light.
The bright light of the sun hurts morning eyes. Exposing late sleepers to the light will be rewarded with squinting, moaning, and complaining that the light is too bright. “Shut it off!”
If you turn off the lights, they will be more comfortable, but you are encouraging them to go back to sleep.
No, the best remedy is to expose them to the light. It is time to wake up. Daytime is here.
When Christians water down, hide, or remain silent about the message of right division, we are turning off the light when people complain that it is too offensive.
Not speaking the light of the the Bible rightly divided, will make them feel better, but you are encouraging complacency towards the truth.
God commanded the light to shine out of darkness, and commands we make all men see the fellowship of the mystery, the light of the glorious gospel (2 Cor 4:6).
Keep the light bright. It is sorely needed by folks who are put to sleep every Sunday.
Turn on the light of right division! Stand for the truth of the mystery of Christ with boldness! Eph 6:19.
Strong light offends weak eyes, but that doesn’t mean the light needs dimmed. It means people are asleep and need to wake up.
For His glory,
