Inconvenient Thing #13 – Haters of God

Romans 1:28 lists 25 inconvenient things that describe humanity as a result of their reprobate minds. Number 13 on the list is “haters of God”.

The most recent display of public hatred against God is the atheists that invaded bestselling book lists a few years ago and the attention of the media.

Using vitriolic language and emotional appeal these talented rhetoricians motivate mobs of young people to hate God and his words. Read more …

 

Too Many “Scholars”

The Bible was not written to be hidden in backwoods monasteries. It was written to be read by the poorest widow in Israel, heathen Gentiles, children, and slaves. It was not written with the lofty wisdom of the world, but with the clear language of the truth.

With the inordinate attention given to institutions offering advanced degrees there is a tendency to think that the Bible should be left to the hands of the “experts”. Yet, the experts repeatedly prove that they have been educated to doubt the Bible. Read more …

 

The Number One Killer of Grace Ministries

Apparently Timothy was letting shame affect his ministry. His spiritual mentor had been in jail and was continually being tried and persecuted. There was opposition on every side by religious men teaching other doctrines.

The size of his ministry added to his shame being smaller than other religious groups. The small group he did have doubted his leadership capabilities because of his age and experience (1 Tim 4:12). There were disputes about charity, responsibility, and sound doctrine. Read more …

 

Pray Without Ceasing

Too often it seems that some pastors are the only ones applying this verse and always right when the roast is burning.

Oh, it makes a wonderful slogan. Print it on wrist bands and it will sell for sure. But, have you ever thought about it? What does it mean to pray without ceasing?

The Most Common Response to Grace

Licenses give permission to do something that would otherwise be forbidden. The most common response to the grace of God from religious folk is that it gives a ‘license to sin’.

This reaction is predictable since grace sets you free from the condemnation of the law. Grace teaches the glorious news that Christ has accomplished what we failed to obtain: righteousness. Read more …
